invite michael and Michelle mette to present your next parish mission.

Are you looking for a way to engage your parishioners outside of Sunday Mass? Do you want to challenge them to grow past their spiritual comfort zone? Our parish missions are very approachable, interactive, and practical. We use compelling testimonies, insightful meditations, and prayerful music to create an environment for spiritual growth. These missions compliment the sacramental graces your parish is already providing and further encourages your community to integrate Christ’s presence more fully in their daily life.

Hope Advent Mission

Michael and Michelle take a look at Salvation History and God’s fulfillment of his promises, culminating in the birth of the savior. During this busy holiday season, we have condensed the experience into one 90 minute session that includes time in adoration.

Know Love Serve Youth Retreat

At the “Know Love Serve” retreat, the band uses Michael’s catchy song to break open Catechism verse 1721, “God put us in the world to know, to love, and to serve him, and so to come to paradise.”  Using this framework allows each retreat experience to be customized to meet the needs of the particular church or school. “Know Love Serve” is easily adapted to fit intimate small groups and large assemblies and has been used for day-long class retreats, Confirmation preparation, and youth rallies. Because this retreat is presented by the band, the students get an opportunity to see the richness of our Catholic faith through the eyes of other teens.

Service, Surrender, & Sacrifice

Presented in 3 sessions of 60 minutes each, Michael and Michelle offer their experiences as a faith-filled lay married couple navigating a complex world. The first night looks at service as a natural response to knowing and loving God. Night two breaks open the role of sacrifice in our journey to become holy. Reconciliation is fitting during the second evening. The final theme of surrender takes a look at the things in life that feel outside our control. Adoration can easily be included on the third night.

Timeless Retreat

Michael and Michelle take a look how we place priorities in God, family, and work in our busy lives. This couple’s retreat is condensed to one Saturday morning of reflection. We suggest that the parish provide childcare to encourage young couples’ to attend. This retreat can be adapted for a 3-night parish event that is fitting for all liturgical seasons.

  • Mette Family Ministries likes to be able to “take money off the table” when it comes to ministry. We often use a “free will offering” model which allows us take up a collection at the event and come at no direct cost to the parish. We ask for lodging while we are in the area. If you prefer to pay a stipend instead of taking up an offering, the stipend will depend on the size of parish and distance traveled. Please e-mail Michael for a quote.

  • Yes! These experiences are very fitting for all these missions/retreats.

  • We ask for 1-2 nights lodging for the presenters.

We ask for substantial promotion of the event including bulletin announcements, posters at parish, social media, and involvement of parish groups (KofC, youth groups, prayer groups, etc) and that Michael gives a personal invitation at the Masses if the event is on a weekend.

We may ask for copies of handouts. If a projector of screen is available, we will make use of this, but it is not required.

  • We can adapt to fit the needs of your group. Send Michael an email and let him know what you are looking for.

  • We have found that the best way to get people to show up is to have a great invitation at the Masses. It makes a difference if Michael is able to give the invitation and if the community can tell if the priest is on board and excited about the event. Michael is also able to provide music for the weekend liturgies.

Also, involving the leaders of all the parish groups like KofC, Religious Ed, schools, RCIA, Cursillos, etc. will make a difference. They can help make sure there are no scheduling conflicts and encourage their groups to attend.

  • The Know, Love, Serve youth retreat is presented by MJM7 band. The other missions are presented by Michael and Michelle. Typically other family members will not be present for the event.

  • While the experiences of Mass, Reconciliation, and Adoration are good additions to the events, we can include other prayer experiences and still have a great event!
